From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The latest chapter concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of characters who will separate from the main group to undertake their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team includes Teor (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense first encounter with the antagonists.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
Casimir then settled his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, desires revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a hostile place.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could help the group reach locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This means them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Explorers and Strategists tables.
Fans can expect discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
